September
Barb Flowers, of Rocky Mountain Koi Club, reports we had our 23rd Annual Koi Show, August 18-19. Our judges were Ray Jordan, Dale Gingerich and Junichi Kayano. The total number of fish were down this year to less than 80 however the quality was wonderful. We had more Size 6 koi than ever before. The judging process was a true consolidated effort with the Grand Champion A and B, Reserve Grand Champion and Mature Champion all going to Gary & Kathy Hicken of Utah. The Hickens tried for 3 years to make it to our show and due to family issues and travel problems were unable to come.  They finally made it this year. What wonderful results. Bryan McCleney traveled from Phoenix this year and took Young Champion as well as Long Fin Grand Champion. Once again, we had wonderful weather and our facilities at Tagawa Gardens were absolutely wonderful. Thanks to all the judges, vendors, exhibitors and volunteers working together to make our show a huge success. The Sep meeting will be a discussion of show results and where our club wants to go from here.  Check out their website at http://www.rmkc.net/.
