Genesse reported their ponds are up and running mostly. They are having multiple ponds which gives them the ability to remove fish from one pond to another so that each pond may be drained and cleaned and to their satisfaction. They suggest getting UV s on early, otherwise the green algae blooms build quickly (within 3-4 days) when the spring sun shines down with no leaves on the trees to block it. Denis Monfeldt received his “Koi Person of the Year” award.

January 2017
Jerry Behlau, of Genesee Valley Pond & KC, said their weather wasn’t too cold or wet to keep members from attending the last GVPKC meeting of 2016. Thank you to all who brought the delicious foods! Although 2016 season pond images were lacking, Bob Wheeler saved the day with some very nice images showing how the Wheeler yard and pond changed throughout the season. They also conducted club business; voting for their 2017 Board members, discussion plans for the 2017 season and awarding a well earned recognition certificate to their “Koi Person of the Year,” Denis Monfeldt. They filled three of their four board positions for 2017. Volunteering (and elected) were: Jerry Behlau (President), Denis Monfeldt (treasurer) and Bob Wheeler (secretary). The position of vice-president will remain vacant. Thank you to their board members for filling these positions. Their first snow has fallen, and the season is definitely done. Their club will go on, but for now….stay warm, and check back here for news of upcoming events.
