June
May meeting was held at the home of Herbie and Valerie Champion of Angier, N.C. We discussed the success of our May koi sale, and our upcoming show in September. About (15) members participated in the plant swap; Herbie was even digging up additional plants around his yard to share with members. After the meeting, members enjoyed some great pizza and talk. Our June 16th meeting is at Jay and Wendy Robin’s home in Wake Forest. Our July meeting will be held Mark and Mona’ Hall’s home in Raleigh.

March
Members of North Carolina KWGS have submitted their votes for the 2012-2013 Slate of Officers and the changes in AKCA Bylaws. The club also discussed upcoming events for the year. Members will once again have the opportunity to participate in a mud pond seining at East Coast Koi Imports. The pond is set to be seined on March 24th; our March meeting will be held after the pond seine at East Coast Koi Imports. Our April 14th meeting will be at the home of Dan Phillips in Clayton, N.C. One of our members, Jason Guevara, will be presenting a judging seminar for members at the April meeting. The seminar will conclude with a judging challenge with prizes provided by Purdin Koi. Our annual cull sale will be held on May 5th at Weston Daylily Farm in Garner, N.C.; this event continues to be a great fund raiser for the club. The May 19th meeting location will be at the home of Tommy and Judy Hilliard in Fuquay-Varina, N.C.

The club will not be holding a grow-out contest this year due to lack of participation.

February
North Carolina K&WGS reports there isn’t a great deal of news to share right now.  They don’t meet in Dec.  In January, they held their annual holiday meeting at Casa Carbone Restaurant in Raleigh.  Members were treated to product samples such as food and waterfall cleaner from Pond Depot.  They discussed the 2012 NCKWS Carolina Classic Koi Show which is set for Sept. 21-23rd.  The venue for the show will be East Coast Koi Imports in New Hill thanks to Bobby Want, one of their corporate members.  The pond tour was also mentioned but there are no concrete plans as of this meeting.  Their next meeting is scheduled for Sat., Feb. 25th.  They will be discussing upcoming events such as the koi show and their annual spring cull sale.
