April
Jerry Hames, of Olympic K,GF&WGC, said they haven’t met this year yet. They missed March and will start again the 6th of this month. Bruce Lott is their AKCA rep.

March
Jerry Hames, of the Olympic K,GF&WGC, said they had their Christmas Dinner and Party at George & Jasn Bahr’s place in Poulsbo. They don’t meeti in January and February, sortof a winter break starting again in March. This year the flu and other member illness’s encouraged them to also take March off and start the meeting in April. They meet in their members home and have decided that the host will lead a discussion on a subject like koi, goldfish, or other water garden subjects. It’s always fun to look over the ponds that their members have whether they are finished or still at work in progress. Their club was glad to pick up some new members past year. Their meetings are also the place where they report on any problems the members are having, or bring up the questions about their hobby that they might have.

November
Jerry Hames, of Olympic K,GF&WGC, said they will meet Dec. 4th for their Christmas party, gift exchange and dinner at Jan & George Bahr’s place. Their club takes December, January and February off as far as meetings go because, as you know, their fish are resting in the cold uncomfortable water. Their members have decided to not have any extra projects this next year, but will meet their normal 9 months. Their members take turns hosting the meetings, and the host will present a program discussing an article from KOI USA, or explaining a particular koi. They will pick a koi, explain the name, colors, and what a perfect fish of that breed would look like.

October
Jerry Hames, of Olympic KGF&WGC, said they don’t do much as a club anymore. Their members are mostly over 60 and they don’t have very many of them. They have picked up 6 new members but they weren’t even at their last meeting so he doesn’t know how active they will be. If his health holds up, he is going to try for a couple activities next year after their club comes back from winter break. They used to have a Koi Appreciation Day where their members discussed all the aspects of having a pond, from the planning, digging, the need for bottom drains, skimmers, etc. Then it would be fun to have what use to be an Annual Pond Tour.

September
Jerry Hames, of Olympic K,GF&WGC, said the club is not active as he would like, but his health has turned bas so he mostly goes along with the other members. They have about 15 or so members now. They mostly just like meetings and doing what they call a round table talking about their ponds, asking and answering questions. He did insist that they learn something at each meeting or he was just going to stay home but continue to be friends with the members. They decided to start to learn the names of all the koi, mostly because it’s nice to share with company to their ponds the type of fish when they usually ask. So far they are learning something each meeting these days, and have a good time with the round table.
