AKCA Koi of the Year
Rules and RegulationsAll affiliated Clubs will be entitled to one Koi Photo Entry which will represent your club in the photo competition at this year's AKCA Annual Seminar. The recommended guide lines for selection of a fish are enclosed. You will also find an order form for a Plaque (if your club is holding an Official Koi Show to select your entry). and instructions for participation at the Seminar.
Selection
Clubs selecting their entry at their Koi Show:
- A committee of 2 or 3 members can select a winner at the show.
- The Judge of the show can select a winner.
- The Grand Champion of your show is not eligible.
Clubs selecting their entry at anther type of Function:
- All interested members can submit a photo and negative of their favorite Koi at a selected club meeting where all of the attendees will vote a winner.
- During a pond tour, have the attendees vote the best pond. Later a committee of 2 or 3 members can go to this home and select a fish and photograph it.
- During a club display at a Garden Show, Rose Show, Japanese Festival or Pet Fair, have the attendees vote for a favorite fish.
Guidelines
The club must have some kind of judging, such as a photo contest, koi show, exhibit at a fair.
The results and a standard sized photo (3.5X5 or 6X4) and negative/slide OR a CD of a digital photo, at least 3mp must be mailed to Gary Chin no later than May 1 to qualify for the annual seminar contest.
Only one fish per club per year may be entered.
The fish must be kept at the owner's home, in the owner's pond
A fish can only be entered once per year and can only represent one club.
All "AKCA Koi of the Year" previous first place winners, cannot be entered another year.
ONLY clubs that hold shows and select their entrant at that show are entitled to an AKCA Plaque.
We recommend that Koi Dealer/members be excluded from consideration.
The Grand Champion of a Koi show is not eligible to represent that club.
Clubs without shows that are located in northern areas should hold this competition in July of August prior to the June Seminar. Photots of all entrants will be featured in KOI USA.
All Photos will be enlarged, framed and engraved by AKCA
