Selecting Goshiki

Judge the following three koi. Click on your choice for first place and see how you did.
A ........ B ......... C

First Place: C -This stuning Goshiki has a selection of attributes that combine to render the "package" extremely impressive. The subect of the body shape or conformation is a major factor in judging, being one of the most difficult aspects to articulate, but looking closely at the the body shape of this koi with the others, good conformation becomes clear. With excellent skin and pattern, this koi is indeed impressive. Note the Hi pattern is much like a good kohaku.

Second Place: A - This Goshiki is perhaps best descibed as classic Japanese Goshiki. Acceptable body shape and excellent skin combine to define a clearly delineated pattern. The overall condition of this Koi does not appear over inspiring, the pectoral fins, although not bad enough to exclude it, most certainly demerit the Koi.

Third Place: B - This koi has nice conformation but it is speckly with spurious sumi impinging on both the hi and and the robing. However, it has very imposing finnage and beautiful eyes and the Kuchibeni on the nose is very charming.
