Selecting Tancho

Judge the following three koi. Click on your choice for first place and see how you did.
A ............... B .............. C

First Place: C This koi quite simply has it all. Almost perfect conformation supports a beautiful snow white skin which gleams and glistens like three dimensional milk. The subtle fukurin scales on the shoulder, offset the dorsal and flank regions and endear the koi greatly. Soft finnage and a wonderful mouth shape all contribute to the overall impression. The Tancho marking looks like it's ben painted on; almost perfectly dissecting the eyes in symmetrical harmony. The Tancho marking is also totally in proportion to the rest of the Koi.

Second Place: A This koi is truly imposing. Fine body shape verges on the too full, but we can just forgive it as the context is acceptable and proportional. Clear white skin offers an impressive canvas for a mature Koi with great appeal. The Tansho marking is less conventional than first place, but is still possesses an enigmatic quality which confounds it's lack of formal compliance. It is difficult not to be drawn to this Koi as it has serious Koi appeal. While some of the detailed aspects of appreciation may not fully comply to individual parameters of excellence, when taken as a whole package, this Koi is seriously impressive.

Third Place: B Of the three Koi featured, our Tancho Showa could reasonably claim to be a tad unlucky. The Koi has serious merits in all areas. The confomation is good, the skin quality appears excellent, pleasing consistent pattern, beautiful finnage, especially the pectoral fins, and an attrative Tancho marking. This is indeed a high quality Tancho but placed in such a tough competition as this, this marvelous Koi must take third place.
