The

v
MINUTES: Motion: To approve
the minutes of June 8th. Motion by
Joan, 2nd by Joyce. Approved.
v
JUNE FINANCIAL STATEMENT/FINANCE COMMITTEE:
Doug reported that as of 6/30 there was $14,517
advertising due that is 60-90 days late and only $2097 that is over 90 days
late. Our investment account gained
$4997 in May and lost $847.62 in June.
The income side of the AKCA financials was frozen on 7/7 when Doug sent
the profit loss statement to Michael to do the sales taxes; he can still add
expenses to last year prior to preparing the AKCA Board meeting financial
statement on 7/11. 313 Phoenix Seminar
pins cost $3.30 each; sold for $5 at the Seminar. It was decided to continue selling them for $5. Motion: To approve the annual financial statement
not to exceed $3000. Motion by Doug, 2nd
by Joan. Approved. Doug paid the Arizona sales tax for the
Seminar bookstore sales. He sent the
AKCA bookstore sales tax info to Michael to prepare the sales tax forms and he
emailed him the completed forms and his bill the next day. The sales taxes have been paid: sales taxes
$25l7 and prep fee of $105. 81 clubs
have paid their dues leaving 23 left to pay dues by Oct. 1st
termination date. Doug discussed two
problems: AKCA only has $15k in the bank
so KOIUSA Inc. needs to donate 20-30K to AKCA immediately. KOI USA Inc. has $59K in the bank and $35K
in accounts receivable due for the last 2 issues alone, 40K total for all
issues. KOI USA Inc. needs at least 37K
to cover the expenses for the next issue of the magazine. Motion: For AKCA to request KOI USA Inc. to donate
30K at this time and consider a second donation in December. Motion by Doug, 2nd by Burt. Approved. Secondly, the AKCA sales tax needs to be
paid before the end of July. Once Doug
sent the files to Michael, the total annual income for AKCA is frozen for last
year because it is a required data for the sales tax form. It was decided to hold off paying the sales
tax and pay the penalty. Discussion on
increased shipping fees for bookstore items.
Motion: To
increase shipping by $1 for bookstore items.
Motion by Burt, 2nd by Bill.
Approved. Motion: To approve the net profit for KOIUSA of
$60,987 to replace the one approved last month. Motion by Doug, 2nd by Joan. Approved. Net
income from July 2006 through June 2007 was a minus $46,033.95.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
v SCIENTIFIC: Spike handed out his report. Reported that 17 of the current students finished the class out of 50 starters; 17 students are signed up for the next class already; 9 are holdovers from the last class. Nick Saint-Erne participated in the KHA lab class and his portions were very well received. He has agreed to participate again in Jacksonville. Karen Pattist will start preparing a Koi Show Water Quality course in August with an outline due in Sept. Possible on-line course start in Jan. ’08 with practical work at club shows throughout ’08.
v KHV Project: Spike handed out his report. The two Peter Enfield donated slates sold for $1200 and $1400 at the AKCA Seminar Banquet. We also received a donation from PNKCA Enfield slate auction (approx. $630) and two donations from England. They raised about $3,460 total during the period. Gene Anderson needs to contact the regional directors and set either ongoing goals and/or monthly goals. He is also looking for replacements of 2 regional directors and also to add some additional directors (any volunteers?).
v
PUBLICATION:
Joan reported
that only two advertisers have outstanding debt over 90 days. Doug presented his budget for
2007/2008. He presented an extensive
review of lst year’s final numbers and presented a revised budget
proposal. Tom suggested we increase the
advertising budget to include a six

v
month
trial of Google ads. The budget was
increased by $300 per month for six months.
Google ads are based on a “pay per click” format so we can manage our
budget and who sees the ads. The ads
would direct
viewers to our site. There is a way to link to subscription information. We will monitor total web subscriptions to
see if there has been a positive impact.
We will check results and will continue if the results look good. Tom will set this up. The production manager has been working on
assembling the Sept./Oct issue of KOI USA.
There has been a long delay due to the complications their Editor
encountered trying to move. Tom and
Cindy are both working long hours to get it as close to the regular time as
possible. It looks like it will be out
on the 15th or 16th.
Brenda got 23 subscriptions and sold $600 worth of koi items at the
Indianapolis show.
v
MEMBERSHIP: No Report
v
JUDGING: Bob reported that he was very
happy with the Seminar as well as with the judges who participated.

v

& Cindy on the filter guides. The
revisions are almost all done for the pond construction guide.
v
