2006
AKCA Seminar to be held in Niagara, New York
The
meeting was called to order by Chair
Joan Finnegan @ 7:00 pm. Joyce was
acting Secretary due to Carole’s absence.
Doug introduced Mandy delaFuente; she is the new AKCA store
manager. All orders have been
processed.
v
MINUTES:
Motion: To approve the minutes of October 10, 2003 with the following
corrections: Date for
meeting (on
Agenda) should have been Nov. 14th.
. Motion by Doug, 2nd
by Lisa. Approved
v
OCTOBER FINANCIAL STATEMENT/FINANCE COMMITTEE:
Doug stated that the CPA has completed his review of
the AKCA books and has completed our taxes that have been mailed. He was glad we combined our books into one
company instead of 3; concerned about any gifts or contributions AKCA may need
to be recorded somewhere in our books so as not to impact our non-profit
status. He also completed our
non-profit status forms and payment for Doug to send. Leroy Taba is requesting $500 reimbursement for his $1,500 cost
to travel to the Seminar in Atlanta to advertise the 2004 AKCA Seminar in
Hawaii. Motion: To reimburse Leroy Taba $500 for travel
expenses to Atlanta Seminar. Motion by
Doug, 2nd by Joyce. Approved.
Doug stated that our investment account has
increased $3,365 last month. Kim
completed the physical inventory of the bookstore and Quickbooks has been
updated. Doug changed the phone company
for the Bookstore fax number from AT&T at 99 cents per minute to SBC for
5.6 cents per minute. The fax machine
is the same number and is operational at Mandy’s home. Mandy has the bookstore up and running and
is current with orders. The AKCA
website ordering is linked to Mandy’s personal email account. Doug had one complaint the 1-800 number and
the website both could not provide the dealer cost for more than 5 of an item
so will look into this complaint. As of
Nov. 3rd, KOI USA has $6,618 advertising that is 61-90 days late and
$3,306 that is more than 90 days late even with the huge effort by Connie to
receive payment. None of the vendors
more than 90 days late are in the Jan/Feb issue of KOI USA. They are ready to send 3 accounts over 90
days to collection for $1016 total and will write off 2 accounts for $75. A 4th account to collections is
pending a last effort by Tom to collect.
KOI USA is clearing about $13,000 on each issue of the magazine. The Buyers Guide was much less profitable
this year as in previous years to KOI USA plans to discontinue this issue and
will change the postcard in KOI USA to show only 6
Page 2
issues per year.
Doug has created a formal contract for Connie for Accounts Receivable
and also for Mandy as Bookstore Manager.
He also requested the AKCA Board to set up a special meeting each month
starting in November and December to review, modify and approve the Policies he
has prepared for each Committee from past Board motions. (Will be January 23rd
for membership committee). Motion: That Doug find out video chargesfor two
different videos that the bookstore has carried for quite some time and
determine best value in reordering and then follow through with an order. Motion by Burt, 2nd by Doug. Approved Motion: To accept the contracts for Connie
Friehoff. Motion by Burt, 2nd
by Lisa. Approved. Motion:
To approve the contract for Mandy delaFuente. Motion by Burt, 2nd by Kelly. Approved.
Joan appointed the Finance Committee:
Ed Salinas, Doug Dahl, and Joan.
Last month we paid $300 to PCS to clean up the web
site and $300 to Michael to clean up our link.
This was not brought to the Board as is required, so it was late in
being approved and entered into the records.
The
Finance Committee will meet Monday, Nov. 24th at 6 pm at Mimi’s.

to determine if there is a carrier state in koi that have survived KHVand

formulate plans. Motion: To delay printing of Health Book. Motion by Doug, 2nd by Lisa. Approved. It was stated that anyone who wants to reproduce

January 25th brunch buffet/club meeting at a local restaurant. Membership is her main concerns for 2004 as
well as the treasury. They are working
on a koi related lecture for the public to be given in the Spring. Also, a possibility is a “to the public” koi
sale with good quality koi. Club
member, Gene Winstead, is the owner of Koi Village, a dealer of domestic and
imported koi and he has expressed a real interest in being involved in
something like this. This would be on
the slate for early-mid Summer, when temps are safer for the Koi. A membership drive via a one-page mailer is
underway. 180 mailers have been sent to
folks in Middle TN interested in water gardening and/or ponding. Their web site is official: www.kcmt.net. Though in the infancy stage, they have much
hope for its potential. Their intest is
to offer excellent koi information to the public along with information on the
club’s activities.

they are having elections and a general meeting.
o
Written report submitted by Louie Hernandez: ZNA So Cal had their annual
Fallbrook picnic with Koi Club of San Diego; did not have a good turnout due to
the fires, freeway closures and the threat of smoke and ashes. Their Annual koi round-up and auction at the
