PUBLICATION: Joan discussed the previous KOI USA meeting minutes. Steve reported that he has about half the
articles needed for Jan/Feb. He has
been sending out free subscription cards to the show chairmen for their
raffles.
Dear Club Director Rep: If your club runs out of cards, contact Ron
Sterbens for more!
Tom brought the cards for the sample magazine. These cards have been sent to Ron who has
sent them to the
various clubs.
They have nearly run out of magazines for the Sept. issue and will need
to increase their print
run for Nov. by 200 copies. Joe reported that Karen, who works for Alpha
Server, has been delayed, but did
send the latest working version of the new web site
and it is a very crisp and clean layout.
She has set up a
program “My Dummy Site” for Joe to practice uploading
text and making corrections. Joe said
he was
planning to use her management system to add info to
the real site soon. Joe has asked for
other web masters
to contact him.
So far, he has a mailing list of about 40. Ron reported he had had a good initial phone
meeting with Linda Marlowe of PCS, the company that
handles our mailing list, to go through the reports we
are currently getting from them. In October he plans to come out and have
another more detailed meeting
with Linda and time it so he can make our AKCA
meeting for that month.
Tom and Steve have been in discussions with Roseanne
Conrad, who produces the Pondapalooza Trade

opportunity to be a Sponsor the 2007

be to run an ad in KOI USA to promote the event at
no charge. KOI USA would also receive a
free booth
space at the event where we can promote the
magazine, sell subscriptions, advertise book store items and
promote the AKCA Seminar. It was also suggested KOI USA and Pondkeeper Magazine exchange

and November a Silent Auction and a contest for the pin design for the 20th
Annual Show. The new website www.koiclubsandiego.org is becoming
a very useful tool for club communication.
q Written
report submitted by Spike Cover: Ray Jordan, of Texas K&FGFS,
reports that final preparations are underway for their 14th annual
show for Sept. 30-Oct. 1st.
Since last years show was cancelled due to hurricane Rita there is a lot
of extra excitement about their show this year. Vendor booths are sold out and with about 4 weeks to go almost
all koi tanks and goldfish aquariums are reserved. They are expecting some heavy competition for top awards. 50% of show fish auction proceeds will be
donated to Project KHV. Dan Phillips,
of NCKWS, said that the August meeting was well attended at the
newly completed pond of Roger & Jenn Lias.
They had a chocolate fountain named “The mud ponds of Niigata”. Had a few new members join and the November
officer election process for 2007 has begun.
Sept. meeting at newly completed pond of Jim & Sammy Eakers. Have members attending Atlanta & MAKC
koi shows this month. Their Q3
newsletter was 25 color pages with great content (no reprints, all original),
very educational and reflection of club activities!
